One thing I think you could do to improve the appearance of your blog is to get rid of some of this white space.

This is a great blog, but I agree with niki, there is just too much white space. I am not sure if it appears empty or just the fact that it is so blaringly white.

Good start with the blog! I agree about the white space, but also think you should get your meal plan up at the beginning of the week!! Then you could update the post as the week goes on as to what actually happened! Just a thought! Thanks for good info!

While it’s easy to read on a white background, I think it needs more colors. I like the layout and the easy coupon clicker but the colors are coordinating right now. that would be my suggestion! Thanks for the contest. I’ve been wanting to see this book.

I guess that I disagree w/ Karen, because I don’t care for your header. I find the font (a tiny bit) difficult to read and the largeness and color of the header contrasts a little to much with the simplicity of the rest of your site. It might not be so bad if there was more color in the rest of it, I don’t know.

New visitor here, but love the blog already! I’m constantly looking for bargains! My only comment about the blog is I hate the red on white. It’s so stark that it’s harsh on the eyes. I look at a computer screen all day so something more muted would be easier on my eyes!

I think you need to have some sort of colorful border along the sides. Also, your header/title box visually seems squished to the top. I think it would look more balanced if it was not as wide, and maybe a little taller with the text of the title centered inside. That way the title wouldn’t disappear into the top of the blog. Otherwise I think your layout is nice.
I love the bargains in your blog! I am a new blogger, and don’t have a fancy blog myself, just one of the generic blogger layouts but I would love to see more color in your blog!
I personally like your site. I really like the comments showing up in the gray bubbles. It’s easy to read on the white background.
I would add more color to your blog and less categories running down the left side of it. You might have more headings to choose from at the top to make it easier to navigate around.
I think your site has great content and it’s very easy to navigate. My only suggestion is a more colorful header. It’s very dark in color. You site is FUN so you should have a FUN header and maybe a FUN background (like polka dots or colorful stripes).

Hello! Good luck with your blog. I don’t know if it is just my explorer, but the first word in the title of your blog at the top is very, very close to the top but there is significantly more space in the picture underneath the rest of the words. I would center the logo in the black space more.
Hmm maybe a different background. I have been experimenting on my blog too if you want to check it out.

I think too much white as well, but I don’t think a really busy background would be right either, so a light solid or almost transparent pattern might do the trick. But really, I LIKE your blog!!!!

I think your blog is really great, you give lots of great deals! My only suggestion would be to brighten it up a bit. The red and black is nice together, but there’s too much white and you could use and bright accent color to kick it up a notch!

Everyone seems to be commenting about the white! Maybe a light background color so that everything is still easy to read. I love how your catagories are broken down by store. It’s much easier to find deals that way when we don’t have some of those stores near us.
I like your blog, the articles are great, I love to coupon and save money. The only thing I don’t like is the solid white background. Maybe a light color would be better. All the white is kinda hard on my eyes.

I follow your Marsh deals on Thursdays. It would be helpful to me to maybe put the best deals at Marsh each week in one section, or at the top or someway to specifically highlight them so I know what the best bargains of the week are.

I love the font you used in your header. It is fun and sassy. I think you need to choose a coordinating color for the subheading. The white is too much of a contrast.

I like how packed with content the front page is — but it seems like maybe it could be moer evenly distributed on both sides? Like everyone says, there is a lot of white space, and maybe if there were columns on both sides this would detract a little from that.

I just found your blog and I love it. The white space is fantastic. I noticed with your header that the black background goes all the way to the top. maybe you can design a white horizontal strip and then a red horizontal stripe (like the stripe on the bottom) and then start the black background, to break it up a bit. But really, your blog looks great, no changes are necessary.

Also, as far as constructive advice, I think more vibrant colors would be nice and also a smaller banner. But apart from that, it looks great! Easy to read and not too busy, unlike some other blogs.

I have heard a lot about this book, and I saw her on Oprah. I’ve been wanting to pick one up, for cheap (OR FREE!), of course!

I think you should do something fancier, splashier, more noticeable with your title. It’s a great title — make it a cool font, bright color (something to match the beautiful sunflower?).

If that is the only thing they can find fault with that means you are way ahead of the game. I think there may be too much white (negative) space, it needs more color and more filler I think. Even a light background color would be nice (nothing too dark that makes it hard to read). The content is amazing!

I think your content is great. I’m a Meijer shopper so I love that part especially. I do think your title could use some livening up with color or something. It’s just not popping out from the rest of the words on the page that much. Some pops of color throughout the page design would also be nice but mostly the header needs some spunk!

This cookbook looks soo cool! I saw Mrs. Seinfeld on Oprah, touting her cookbook. Your blog is neat- love the pic at the top. But if you want to improve anything, maybe a splash of some color.
Although this is my first visit I notice right away how clean, crisp and uncluttered your blog is. Easy to navigate. I look forward to exploring it further.

I LOVE looking at pictures so the more pictures the better. I have no complaints about the black text on white, I think it is clear and easy to read. I’m amazed how many blogs are nearly impossible to read!

Oooh, this is a book that I’ve been wanting to get my hands on for awhile.
As far as a site suggestion, I’d see about getting a site banner to make your site look more distinct. Doesn’t have to be a fancy banner–I bet you could do it yourself! Or maybe you could hire someone to do it. Some designers work for barter!

I love all the tips on using coupons. I was particularly interested in different ways to store coupons because mine either end up in the bottom of my purse (lost forever - or until after they expire) OR I spend way too much time at the different stores trying to find the correct coupons in my coupon keeper. I am all about visuals, so I would say find a nice background and get a great header designed.
It is easy to read and follow. I would add a little bit of soft background color to differentiate the sections a little better.

I think you are off to a good start. I do agree that the white is extremely bright and some color would be good. I really like the menu bar at the top. That is a good idea and easy to navigate.
1) I love your blog. You sound confident in your posts and are very to the point. It’s really nice seeing a regular background. lol I think a lot of bloggers try to find something unique and stands out, when really keeping it original white is actually more unique these days. lol

i like simplicity, but i think you might need a bit more color to make ur blog more eye catching, but not too much, maybe like to contrasting colors, but not like bright pink or anything, like more of a dull color like a lavender or a dull green something that stays in the back and doesn’t pop out at you, some blogs you see are so hard to look at.
i really love the content! not only are there savings here, but there are ways to keep things all organized, that is so great! Maybe you should add some freebies listings, like all the Wal-Mart samples, sometimes those come with coupons, and they’re a great way to see if u like something before u spend money on it.
Ever since I saw Mrs Seinfeld on Oprah, I can’t wait to try her recipes! I love the idea of sneaking in healthy food without altering the taste. I used to sneak soy protein into spaghetti.
