If your household has pets, you know how many supplies are scattered throughout your home to help care for them. Organizing Your Pet Supplies in one thing that is quick and easy to do that will help your home be a bit tidier this week. You’ll also be able to quickly recognize your needs and excess.
Organizing Your Pet Supplies
Gather All Supplies & Purge: Gather everything from flea treatments to toys. Sort through the items you have on hand and purge anything that isn’t used on a regular basis. This includes extra leashes, shampoos you didn’t like, toys your pets ignored and items that are threadbare and unusable. For toys that are in good condition, you may want to reach and donate to your local humane society. Some will accept used toys and wash them before giving to other pets. Some locations will not. It is worth the phone call to see.
Sort By Supply Type: Keep all shampoos, cleansers and grooming tools together in the bathroom or area you typically groom your pet in. This will help you know what you have on hand, what you need and mostly keep things right where you need them.
- Sort all toys and store in a small basket or toy bin in an area your pets can easily access.
- Medications including flea or tick treatments should be stored safely in locked cabinet away from your pets and children.
- Food and treats can be stored in a handy location for feeding time. Some pets like to get into their food, so you may want to invest in pet food storage containers to keep it locked away from them between meals.
Use Hooks For Leashes & Collars: Add a hook or two to your garage peg boards to store your leash, collars and harness for pets you take out for walks on occasion. This will keep them hanging and ready to use at a moments notice. Hiding them in drawers or in the basket with their toys often ends up with you not being able to find them when needed, or simply tangled and frustrating to pull apart to use.
Organizing your pet supplies will make play time with your cats and dogs much easier. Not only will you not be spending tons of time looking for what you need, you’ll be feeling like things are much more tidy. Keeping your pet items organized will help keep your furbabies happy when you spend more time with them playing instead of fussing about not being able to find what you need.
