Summer has arrived and the kids are probably already saying “I’m Bored”!
If your kids aren’t complaining about being bored yet, consider yourself lucky. Having activities or outings already pre-planned can help you beat summer boredom.
I’ve put together a list of ways to keep the kids entertained this summer. The best part is all of the options are affordable!
{Outside Water Play}
The heat during the summer months can sometimes make outdoor activities unbearable. Cooped up kids in the house can end up driving you up the wall! Do yourself a favor and stock up on some water toys. You can find anything from buckets, Slip n Slides, water balloons and super soakers for pretty cheap. In fact a lot of these items can be found on clearance or at the dollar store.
The kids will love having playing outside with the water toys and you will get a few moments of peace and quiet.
{Have a Campout}
You don’t have to load up the family and go on an expensive camping trip. If your up for it have a camping trip in your backyard. Set up tents, roast marshmallows, tell ghost stories and do some star-gazing! The kids will love the adventure of sleeping in the backyard and it will give the whole family some good quality bonding time.
{Go Geocaching}
If you are looking for an affordable family activity try your hand at Geocaching. Geocaching is a very affordable activity that can keep your family busy for the whole summer! This is a great article on what Geocaching is and how to do it here. Read it over with your family and see if it is something they are up for.
{Plan Crafts}
Now you don’t have to have extravagant crafts planned, just something you can quickly give the kids to occupy their time. Look around on Pinterest (Follow BargainBriana Summer Fun Board on Pinterest!) and you will see a variety of kid-friendly crafts. If you are not the crafty type that is okay too! Stock up on colors, markers, paint, construction paper and other art supplies. Ask your kids to make their father, grandparent or sibling a picture. They will love making something special and it will give you a little time to relax.
{Bowling, Swimming & Other Activities}
There are several things your family can do out of the house on a budget. Bowling is a great family outing that kids of all ages enjoy. Bowling is also a very affordable option, especially if you ask your bowling alley about discount days or take advantage of the Kid’s Bowl Free program in your area. Your local swimming pool is also an affordable option that your kids will really love! Nothing better than enjoying the summer heat in a nice cool swimming pool. If bowling and swimming isn’t up your alley, try miniature golf or batting cages. Both options can be done on almost any budget and might be something new for your family to try.

Primary Beginnings
Hi! We take the kids that are enrolled in our child care services over the summer to educational museums. They have a blast at the science museums and enjoy all the activities at the kids museum.
