We typically spend the bulk of our time together with our family in our living room. Organizing Your Living Room is something everyone struggles with. Not only is it the most used room in your home, it is also often the place you entertain in. Having it clutter free and orderly means you are never stuck in a panic to get it tidied before someone arrives for a visit.
Organizing Your Living Room
Invest In Attractive Storage: One of the best ways to organize your living room is to invest in some cute and fun storage containers. I love small shelves or end tables for things like books, movie or family pictures. Another hot option is to use dual purpose ottomans. These work as a foot prop with a lid that opens for easy storage. Put things like blankets, card games and other items you don’t need all the time in these for storing out of sight.
Make It A No Toy Zone: Kids toys don’t need to be in the living room. Pick up any in the living room this week and give back to their owners. Let everyone no that from this point forward it will be a no toy zone. Any toys found in the living room in the future will be promptly donated to your local orphanage or thrift shop.
Remove The Clutter: Things like random magazines, newspapers, books, craft projects and more can quickly add up and take up room in your living room. Use the storage you have already existing, or find new homes by buying some simple end tables that double as magazine racks or book shelves. Craft projects can be re homed to your craft room, or placed in you game closet until time for you to work on them.
Use Velcro On Remotes: This little trick may seem silly, but it helps with that always frustrating lost remote control problem. Put Velcro on the back of your remote controls, and on a simple stand or station near your TV. Grab a basket or serving tray and place it decoratively on a shelf near your TV for this purpose. The Velcro will remind you to put them away, and when you do they will “stick in the right place.
Setting up your living room for clean and clutter free can be very rewarding. Organizing your living room is a great way to rid your life of needless clutter, and reconnect with your family each evening. Having a clean and orderly room to spend time in will make a difference in the quality of that time as a family.
