Coupons.com “Free” Savings Club Offer: Did You Get Charged?

September 6, 2012 by Briana Carter

I’ve debated about posting about the “FREE” Savings Club offer from Coupons.com. I hesitated because I don’t feel like we should have to pay for coupons or for exclusive coupons. This seems against what I’m trying to do here. It’s bad enough that you have to pay to print these coupons but to pay to even have access, well that just seems wrong. I don’t know what the future of printable coupons holds but I was concerned about being part of the reason that people would pay for coupons.

Plus, there was the whole issue that you would have to enter in a actual credit card. Then you would have  to cancel your free subscription before the year was up. By then would we remember to do that? Now, I’m hearing stories that people are actually being CHARGED for this free offer when they were suppose to have an entire year completely free.  So obviously, I’m glad I didn’t post about this offer this time around. However, I’m guessing some of you may have signed up for the Savings Club from reading other sites or on Facebook.

Here’s what you need to do. Check your credit card and bank statements folks. If you have been charged, you will have to contact Coupons.com by signing into your account and letting them know. This is ridiculous, in my opinion. If they know it is an issue, they should be automatically searching for these errors and contacting people BEFORE they contact Coupons.com. Please let me know in the comments if this issue has affected you.

My initial feelings about this offer have some what been confirmed.

Let me know what you think about the Coupon Club. I did the free offer back in February and I forget to log in to check the exclusive offers. I haven’t been personally impressed with the offers that are exclusive. I also wonder what companies are wanting to only offer coupons to a select group. Why would companies want people to have to pay to access their coupons. It’s all becoming so crazy.

What are your thoughts? Would you pay for coupons?

Oh, and not to mention, their website is getting so horribly hard to navigate that I hate going to it more and more :(

I took advantage of this “offer” when it came around last spring. I used a “throwaway” debit card, so they can’t charge me when my year is up. Honestly, I don’t think it has been worth what they are asking ($30). I’ve printed a few good coupons but not $30 worth.

I signed up. I haven’t been charged, but I also have not used it at all. Just not enough difference or better coupons for me to see the point. I am a little worried on whether I will remember to cancel it when the time comes too.

No, I would NOT pay for coupons…it would be defeating the purpose! I heard about the “free” club offer on another site and when I saw that I had to enter credit card info, I did not participate. By the time we foot the bill for paper and ink and take time to search, print, clip, organize and then actually USE the coupons, I feel we already have a lot invested, especially when you count the time spent. Thanks for all you do to help us save time and money!
